Olympus E-PM2
image of the Olympus PEN E-PM2 digital camera Smaller, lighter and less expensive than the very similar E-PL5, the Olympus E-PM2 is a surprisingly sophisticated option for photographers looking to step up from their point-and-shoots into an interchangeable-lens camera. The entry-level PEN E-PM2 is fast and fun to use, but most importantly it takes great pictures, thanks to the 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor it shares with the high-end Olympus E-M5. With no physical Mode dial and few settings buttons, the E-PM2 relies heavily on touchscreen operation, which may be a turn off for some. Check out our Olympus E-PM2 review to see if it's the right compact system camera for you.

Olympus E-PL5
image of the Olympus PEN E-PL5 digital camera Inheriting a ton of high-tech DNA from the acclaimed Olympus OM-D E-M5 -- including its 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor -- the Olympus E-PL5 is a pint-sized powerhouse with image quality that rivals more expensive digital cameras, including the E-M5 itself. A fast performer, the E-PL5 captures rich, detailed photos even in low light, and boasts a ton of advanced photographic capabilities and immensely customizable functions -- although you have to navigate its maddening menu system to find them. Read our Olympus E-PL5 review to find out how the camera stacks up against other compact system cameras.

Samsung Galaxy Camera
image of the Samsung Galaxy Camera digital camera Just days after Nikon announced the Coolpix S800c, Samsung responded with its Samsung Galaxy Camera, setting the stage for an epic battle, and pitting one of the most recognized brands in imaging against a consumer electronics giant with a long history in smart devices. Each camera trod a different path: Nikon went small, conservative, and camera-like; Samsung grafted a high-end smartphone and a long-zoom digital camera. We reviewed both side by side. Will Nikon hit the home run, or will Samsung's experience give it the edge? Read our Samsung Galaxy Camera review, and find out!

Canon 6D
image of the Canon EOS 6D digital camera Despite its lineage, the Canon 6D is more than just a mini 5D Mark III. Though Canon has had to nip and tuck a few things to make the 20.2-megapixel, full-frame 6D smaller and more affordable, it still squeezes in a ton of advanced features -- including built-in WiFi and GPS -- and delivers stunning images and videos that rivals those of more expensive cameras. Overall, the 6D is a well-designed, responsive shooter that should appeal to prosumers, enthusiasts and novices alike. Read our in-depth Canon 6D review for all the reasons why (and price isn't the only one) you should consider buying one!

Nikon S800c
image of the Nikon Coolpix S800c digital camera As the first mainstream smart camera, the Android-based Nikon S800c is a shot across the bows of the smartphone, pairing its soul with the body of a digicam. The S800c aims to take photography to the next level, creating a capture, editing, and sharing powerhouse. But revolution is risky business: Not only must the S800c house an app-ready operating system -- it need also feel like a photographic tool. Can Nikon succeed at first asking, or will it stumble out of the gates? Read our Nikon S800c review, and find out!
