Like the E1040, the General Electric E1240 offers a larger-than-average 3.0" 230,400 pixel LCD display, and a 40 - 160mm equivalent 4x optical zoom lens, but increases the CCD resolution to twelve(!) megapixels. 40mm is a bit tight for group or indoor shots, but the E1240's lens does have better-than-average telephoto range.
Other E1240 features include in-camera panoramic stitching, red-eye removal, 9-point AF with face-tracking, 30 frames-per-second VGA MPEG4 movie mode and SDHC compatibility (up to 4GB). E1240 exposure modes include Auto and Macro, plus 12 scene modes including Sport, Kids & Pets, Party/Indoor, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Portrait, Night Portrait, Landscape and Anti-Handshake.
The GE E1240 uses a proprietary Lithium Ion battery, offers USB and NTSC / PAL video connectivity, and includes both 26MB of built-in memory and an SD / MMC card slot.
Pricing and availability of the GE E1240 have not been announced at this time. The E1240 will be offered in black, red, blue, white and silver finishes.
