PRESS RELEASE: Phase One H 101 for Hasselblad H1 Auto Focus Camera
Photokina 2002, Cologne, Germany, September 25, 2002: Phase One, known for providing the world's leading high-end digital camera solutions, announces today a unique camera back for Hasselblad's new medium format auto focus camera: H1.
The Phase One H 101's exclusive design integrates perfectly with Hasselblad's revolutionary H1 camera and creates the appearance of a single, integrated unit in Scandinavian design. The camera looks like a piece of modern artwork and signals prestige, differentiation and superiority.
The H 101 is controlled by Phase One's versatile workflow software, enabling the creation of print-ready images with amazing image quality in just a few simple steps. Features such as exposure histogram and ISO values can be displayed directly on the small LC display placed on the grip of the H1. A flash indicator and orientation of the CCD can be seen on the display as well. This way the photographer can easily get a quick overview during a photo shoot without having to check the monitor.
Henrik Håkonsson, CEO Phase One, states: "Purchasing the new H1/H 101 digital camera system provides the professional photographer with a wide range of benefits. One is, of course, being able to achieve superior image quality in the studio as well as on location. This integrated camera solution is extremely well-suited for hand-held operation, making it an excellent solution for fashion, social and all types of outdoor photography. Working on location sometimes forces the photographer to compromise due to lack of light. However, the H 101 compensates for lack of light by offering ISO values of up to 400. To test the quality of the H 101 (11 mega-pixel), we compared it with Kodak's Proback 645 (16 mega-pixel) at ISO 400. The results clearly showed that the H 101 generates less noise and therefore a much smoother image than possible with the Kodak Proback."
"Secondly, the H1 auto focus camera is clearly one of the most enriching medium format camera systems to work with. The full electronic integration between the ergonomically designed H1 camera and the digital H 101 back in combination with the intuitive and efficient workflow provided by Phase One's Image Capture Software will without a doubt make this system the versatile professional's preferred choice," Henrik Håkonsson continues. "Add the flexibility of working with both medium as well as large format cameras to this and you have a winner."
Phase One's newest model comes with an 11 mega pixel CCD that produces clean files, saturated colors and incredible sharpness. The image quality of the H 101 comes very close to that of the successful market leading digital back, the Phase One H 20, which is equipped with a 16 mega pixel CCD. Like all other Phase One digital camera systems, the H 101 mounts on large format cameras via Phase One's FlexAdaptor.
The Phase One H 101 starts shipping in November 2002.
