16:20 EDT - EXCLUSIVE: Having finally found an Internet Cafe that offered better Internet access than the dismal press centers at Photokina, Dave has just uploaded a number of sample images taken at the show with Sigma's much-anticipated SD9 digital camera.
We've seen a literally huge volume of interest in Sigma's camera, and it revolves around the revolutionary new Foveon X3 image sensor that the SD9 uses - which unlike the Bayer sensors in competing cameras, captures real color data for all three colors at every pixel. EOS-1Ds: Luminous Landscape, Yamada post samples
03:35 EDT - Michael Reichmann of the Luminous Landscape website has commenced a review of Canon's recently-announced EOS-1Ds digital camera, and kicks off with a comparison with film cameras.
The preliminary results are exciting to say the least; the 1Ds is certainly looking to have the advantage on 35mm film in Michael's samples, and 645 Medium Format film is looking like it may be meeting a worthy rival. Sigma SD9: Samples at DPReview (UPDATED)
02:49 EDT - The folks over at the Digital Photography Review website have posted a number of sample photos from a pre-production SD9 digital camera.
A caveat: as always with a pre-production camera, the sample images may not full represent what a production camera will be capable of; firmware in digital cameras is often being tweaked almost until the first batch is shipped to retailers.
