Nikon USA has today announced six new digital cameras, right before the start of the Photo Marketing Association tradeshow.

The Nikon Coolpix L18 is an eight megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom lens, and 3.0" LCD display. It draws power from two AA batteries (with alkalines in the product bundle), and stores images on SD memory cards or 21MB of built-in memory. Priced at $140, the Nikon L18 goes on sale from March 2008.

Also shipping in March 2008 are four new S-series digital cameras. The Coolpix S210, S520, S550 and S600 will cost between $180 and $300. The S210 and S520 are eight megapixel 3x zoom cameras, while the S550 and S600 bump the resolution slightly to ten megapixels. The S550 has a 5x zoom lens, and the S600 has a 4x zoom with a useful 28mm wide angle. It also features a 2.7" LCD, where the other three cameras have 2.5" LCDs. All four cameras draw power from proprietary Lithium Ion rechargeables, and include built-in memory (ranging from 23 to 52MB depending on the model) as well as SD card slots.

Finally, the Nikon Coolpix P60 has an 8.1 megapixel imager, 5x optical zoom lens, 2.5" LCD display, AA batteries for power, and SD slot plus a not-very-generous 12MB of built-in memory. It too will ship from March 2008, priced at $230.
