Focus is on the 3rd Generation of Intelligent Image Capture Technologies and Applications

Las Vegas, NV – January 30, 2008 – Future Image, the Association of Imaging Executives (AIE) and Photo Marketing Association International (PMA), the organizers of the 6Sight® - The Future of Imaging executive conference, announced at the PMA Sneak Peek press event in Las Vegas today that, for the second consecutive year, they will join forces with FotoNation, Inc. to produce one of the event’s main technology sessions. Attendees at the 2007 event were privileged to see:

  • Marian Stewart Bartlett, University of California, San Diego, – Computer-based facial expression recognition
  • Areil Shamir, PhD, Efi Arazi School of Computer Science, – Seam carving for content aware image resizing
  • John Ghent, PhD, National University of Ireland, Facial expression synthesis

The 2008 session will explore advancement in technologies as applied to new applications for image capture. Potential examples range from sleep detection in cars, emotion detection in robots for toys, face recognition for consumer image capture devices (digital cameras, camera-phones, video cameras), behavioral/neurological feedback systems for autism, and more at the third edition of 6Sight to be held at the Monterey California Conference Center on November 19 and 20, 2008.

FotoNation will extend invitations, evaluate submissions from imaging technologists from around the world and select three finalists to speak at the 6Sight Conference. Presenters must have a working implementation of their technology that is demonstrable for live presentation. The selection criteria will be designed to single out research projects that have the greatest potential to influence the design and functionality of future generations of image capture devices, digital cameras, video cameras, and camera-phones.
