Booth Report: Canon Inc.

Las Vegas Convention Center

Canon's booth at PMA is located on the right just inside the hall entrance, and ranks as the largest of any company at the show this year. In the runup to PMA, Canon announced five new digital cameras - among them the EOS Rebel XSi digital SLR and four PowerShots - the SD1100 IS Digital ELPH, A590 IS, A580 and A470. The company also launched two new image-stabilized L lenses, the EF200mm f/2L IS USM and EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM. There were also two new printers - the PIXMA MX850 Office All-In-One and PIXMA iP2600 Photo Printer - as well as no less than twelve camcorders (three of them high-definition models, the remainder being standard definition) which were first shown at the CES show a couple of weeks back, and offer a selection of recording media including SDHC cards, internal flash drives of varying capacities, and internal DVD burners, depending on the model. For the models without the ability to write to DVD discs, a separate DW-100 DVD Burner provides a solution when you want a DVD copy to share with friends or family.

Canon's ZR930 camcorder is one step above the ZR900 model, which we didn't see on Canon's booth. Upgrades include a more powerful 48x zoom lens, higher-res 1.07 megapixel CCD imager,multi-angle remote control and microphone terminal. Both camcorders were announced a couple of weeks ago at the CES show.
