Online photo-finisher announces program aimed at raising funds for charity...

PhotoAccess.com Corp. has announced in a press release that it has founded an initiative to assist charities worldwide, called the 'Sharing Smiles Program'. Any person involved with or attending a charity event can contact PhotoAccess (or local partner retailers) to receive a digital camera by mail on loan, free of charge for up to 10 days. Once the event is over, the camera is returned in a provided mailer, and the pictures are uploaded to an event album on a participating local retailer's Web site.

Once uploaded, the pictures can be viewed by attendees and the public, and prints or photo merchandise can be ordered. For each item ordered, the charity hosting the event receives a donation of $1 from PhotoAccess.

This has to be amongst the most community-minded and worthwhile initiatives of its kind which we've seen, and we really have to commend PhotoAccess for the idea. The company will simultaneously get their corporate 'brand' in people's minds, and do something to help charities raise funds and promote their events - a true win-win situation!
