Dave's Digicam Wishbook. Holiday Wishbook Online!

I can't say how many times a day I get an email from a reader asking me to help them decide what camera they should get. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to do that, so have to regretfully tell them "sorry, but..." It occurred to me though, that I do have a pretty good idea of which cameras I think fit various niches the best, and that information would likely be helpful to folks. Remembering the hours I spent poring over the Sears Roebuck Christmas "Wishbook" when I was a kid, I decided to make a "Wishbook" for our readers.

Right now, it has just digicams in it, but I hope to add some accessories, printers, and scanners over the next week or so. I've really tried to cover the full range of cameras, from rank beginner to full-tilt techno-tweak. Reading it, you'll notice that there are some cameras, and even some manufacturers that aren't included. That's deliberate. This is a list of the best cameras on the market, the ones I personally recommend to my friends, neighbors, and relatives. For each niche (megapixels, beginner/intermediate/expert, standard/compact, etc) you'll find a few cameras, all of which I think are excellent, and any of which I think our readers would be happy with.

I've also included special links to some of our partner resellers, with a personal satisfaction guarantee: If you have a problem with a reseller you bought from through the Wishbook, I'll personally go to bat for you and help mediate an agreeable solution. That's sticking my neck out pretty far, but I have a lot of confidence in the resellers we've partnered with!

Read the Wishbook, and let the drooling begin!
