Teaser unveiled at the Minolta website suggests an addition to the DiMAGE digicam line is coming soon...

Minolta Japan has added a brief macromedia flash presentation to both its Japanese and English-language websites suggesting that it will soon announce a new 'digital imaging device' for next year. Thus far the new camera is called simply 'X' - and we can't say whether this is meant as a roman numeral which might suggest a higher position in the product line than Minolta's Dimage 5 and 7 models, or even whether this will be the final product name.

The announcement, which reveals no details of the camera specs or design - at least outwardly - has already sparked quite some speculation around the 'net. We can't provide any solid details ourselves at the moment, however should be able to tell you more by the beginning of the new year (Minolta's teaser mentions a date of January 1st, specifically)...

The text of the teaser follows:
"Capture the exquisite. Treasure the exciting. Remember the exceptional. And embrace the unexpected. Coming soon: The most unique... X. Find out more on Jan. 1, 2002."
Curiosity picqued? Hop on over to Minolta's DiMAGE site to see the presentation for yourself, and see if you can make any educated guesses as to what it all implies - then check back here for the full story hot off the presses... :)
