Pat Yuen posts the results of a mammoth undertaking - an in-depth "shooutout" between Nikon's Coolpix 5000 and Canon's PowerShot G2...
We received an email last night from IR reader Pat Yuen, to let us know of a comparison "shootout" he's posted placing Nikon's Coolpix 5000 digital camera head-to-head with the Canon PowerShot G2. The shootout consists of 31 pages considering everything from battery life to flash strength, plus more obscure topics as well. There's numerous sample images from both cameras (including many direct comparisons) sprinkled throughout.
At the end, you'll find another 12 pages just devoted to analyzing sample images - even including a comparison of film and digital image quality. There's also numerous links to other sites that will be of interest, including reviews of both cameras, software for finding hot pixels and viewing movie files or EXIF info, firmware updates and more.
Pat is probably finding out something we discovered long ago - sample images eat up bandwidth like you wouldn't believe! Hence his server seems to be on its knees at the moment, but the end result is well worth the wait. If you're considering either camera (or you own one and want to see how it fares), hop on over to Pat Yuen's Digital Camera Shootout!
