FUJIFILM SERVES UP THE FINEPIX A200 AND FINEPIX 2650 FOR THE FIRST-TIME DIGITAL CAMERA USER

ELMSFORD, NY, August 1, 2002 - Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., today announced the introduction of the FinePix A200 and the FinePix 2650. These point and shoot models are perfect for the first-time digital picture-taker seeking an easy-to-use camera that has a similar look and feel to a traditional film camera with the added advantage of digital features.

Both the FinePix A200 and FinePix 2650 are 2.0 million effective pixel cameras. This allows for the developing of crisp and colorful pictures up to 8 x 10 inches in size. Consumers can develop their FinePix A200 and FinePix 2650 digital camera photos, just like film, at thousands of retail outlets nationwide.

"Digital photography is truly making its mark on the mainstream consumer," said Eric Thorng, Senior Marketing Manager, Consumer Digital Imaging Products, Consumer Markets Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "Fujifilm's FinePix 2650 and FinePix A200 provide the perfect combination of user-friendly controls with exciting digital features that consumers just entering the digital market can enjoy."

One of the most competitively priced cameras in its category, the FinePix 2650 will be available in September 2002 at a price of $249.99, featuring:

  • Low Power Consumption - The FinePix 2650 is the only camera in its class that can operate on only two AA Alkaline batteries, enhancing the lightweight and compact qualities of the camera.
  • Optical Zoom - A 3x optical zoom enables consumers to get closer to their subject, even when they aren't physically able to do so.
  • Movie Recording - The FinePix 2650 can capture 20 seconds (320 x 240 pixels) of AVI digital video (without sound) at a speed of 10 frames per second, and can store up to 94 seconds on its bundled 16MB xD-Picture Card and up to 12.9 minutes on a 128 MB xD-Picture Card, making it ideal for summer vacations and other family activities.
  • Video Conferencing - The camera's new PC-cam capabilities make it the only model in its price-range to offer this multi-functional offering.

The FinePix A200 will be available in September at a price of $179.95. Its features include:

  • Lightweight - The FinePix A200 is the smallest and lightest camera in its category - measuring a mere 3.9" W x 2.5" H x 1.6" D and weighing only 4.7 ounces.
  • Movie Recording - The FinePix A200 is the only camera in its category to offer movie recording. Users can record approximately 20 seconds of AVI video without sound and can store up to 94 seconds on the camera's bundled 16MB xD-Picture Card, and up to 12.9 minutes on a 128 MB xD-Picture Card.
  • Video Conferencing - The A200 is the only camera in its category to provide users with PC-cam and video conferencing capabilities.

The FinePix A200 and FinePix 2650 each come bundled with two AA Alkaline batteries, USB cable, hand strap, 16MB xD-Picture Card, FinePixViewer, ImageMixer VCD for FinePix, DP Editor and Apple QuickTime™ 5.0. Each of the cameras will be available for purchase in September 2002 priced at $179.99 and $249.99, respectively.

New xD-Picture Card Storage Media:
The FinePix A200 and FinePix 2650 each support the new xD-Picture Card. Jointly developed by Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. and Olympus Optical Co., Ltd., xD-Picture Card is the smallest storage format of its kind on the market - comparable in size to a penny, measuring just 0.79" x 0.98" x 0.07" and weighing less than one-tenth of an ounce - with the potential for up to 8GB storage capacity in a single card. This unprecedented combination of small size and large capacity will allow Fujifilm and other companies to manufacture sleeker and lighter cameras than ever before.

In addition, the xD-Picture Card was designed with fast read/write capabilities for smooth digital camera operations. A 16 or 32MB card can record data at 1.3MB/second. A 64MB card or higher can record data at 3MB/second and both offer a read speed of 5MB/second. The card was also designed to minimize power consumption, saving battery life.

The xD-Picture Card initially will be available for purchase in 32MB, 64MB and 128MB capacities at competitive pricing of $29.99, $49.99 and $89.99, respectively. A 256MB card is planned for later this year (16 MB cards will be included with each camera).

PCMCIA and CompactFlash Card adapters will be available, allowing use of xD-Picture Card in a variety of cameras and other devices.
