BenQ announces two new digicams By

(Thursday, January 16, 2003 - 20:06 EST)New choices at both the middle and high end of BenQ's digital camera lineup were unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Benq DC2300 (described in the press release at the end of this news item) slots in between the CMOS-based 1.3 megapixel DC1500, and the CCD-based 3.3 megapixel DC3310. The new camera features a CCD imager, 2.1 megapixel resolution, and a fixed focus, fixed focal-length lens. The camera also has an AVI movie mode, 8MB of built-in memory, SD / MMC storage slot, 1.6" TFT LCD display, built-in flash, and power from AA Alkaline batteries.
The second announcement marks a new resolution high for BenQ. The DC 4500 has a 4.0 megapixel CCD imager (3.87 megapixels effective), coupled with a 3x optical zoom lens, CompactFlash storage, 1.5" TFT LCD and rechargeable AA batteries. As with the DC2300, the camera also has an AVI movie mode.
Both cameras are available immediately. The DC2300 costs $179, and the DC4500 costs $399; specifications follow:
