PRESS RELEASE: SanDisk Unveils World's Fastest 1-GB CompactFlash Card

SNew 1GB SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash Card Offers Ideal Combination of Performance and Capacity; First SanDisk Ultra SD Card Line Also Introduced

LAS VEGAS, NV, March 3, 2003 - SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) today announced a 1 gigabyte (GB) SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash® card with a sustained write speed of up to 6 megabyte (MB) per second and sustained read speed of 9MB/sec., making it the fastest and largest capacity Type I CompactFlash card. In addition, SanDisk introduced the SanDisk Ultra(tm) SD card line to its family of high-speed film cards specifically designed for digital cameras. The new SanDisk Ultra cards are designed for serious photographers who use digital cameras with CompactFlash or SD slots. The announcement was made at the Photo Marketing Association trade show where SanDisk is showing its products in booth L-70.

The sustained write and read performance of the new 1GB Ultra CompactFlash card is approximately twice the speed of SanDisk's current Ultra line. Actual performance may vary between digital cameras from various manufacturers. The cards are fully compatible and interchangeable with all CompactFlash digital cameras, CompactFlash card readers and adapters. The new SanDisk Ultra SD cards have a sustained write speed of up to 2.5MB/sec., which is more than twice the speed of current SD cards.

The increasing megapixel count of today's digital cameras can result in the creation of extremely large image files which lengthens the time required for the camera to capture the image and save it to the film card. SanDisk has significantly optimized the performance of its SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash and SanDisk Ultra SD cards so that these large image files are saved quickly.

"This is the first Ultra SD card we have introduced, and today's announcement represents a significant expansion of our Ultra product line," said Nelson Chan, senior vice president and general manager of SanDisk's retail business unit. "Due to the tremendous increase in high resolution cameras and the growing popularity of digital cameras that use SD cards, it was an obvious step for us to add higher capacities and introduce the Ultra SD cards. We believe that the SanDisk Ultra line, with its increased performance and capacities, will meet the unique needs of serious photographers so they can concentrate on what is most important-taking great pictures."

Chris Chute, senior analyst of digital imaging at International Data Corporation, a leading market research firm, said, "The digital photography market continues to grow by double-digits and is a key factor driving the growth of these film cards since digital cameras gain the most from the cards' large capacities and fast write speeds. SanDisk, with its expanding line of SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash and SD film cards, is a well-known brand with a global presence and is in a great position to capitalize on this growth."

The new SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash cards with improved sustained write/read speeds will be available in capacities ranging from 128MB to 1GB with prices ranging from $59 to $169 respectively. The SanDisk Ultra SD card line will be available in capacities from 128MB to 512MB with prices from $99 to $199. Both card formats will be available in Q2 2003.

SanDisk Ultra cards are based on SanDisk's NAND flash technology and highlight SanDisk's commitment to continually improve the speed, capacity and reliability of its storage cards. The company sells its SanDisk-branded flash memory cards and card readers in more than 50,000 stores worldwide.
