As with the ViviCam 3330, the newly announced ViviCam 3340 didn't seem to be on display at PMA, but a press release was issued nonetheless.

The camera features a 1.3 megapixel CMOS imager coupled with a fixed focus, fixed focal-length lens, 8MB of built-in storage plus an SD card slot, and power from AA batteries. Unlike the 3330, though, this model is fully automatic with no exposure or white-balance override, and no image review LCD display. This model will be available in April at a suggested price of about $90...

The V3340 offers imaging versatility in a camera that is easy to use. Users may select from two resolution settings - 1280 x 960 (native resolution), or 640 x 480. Distinct audible tones provide tonal feedback to the photographer so you always know what the V3340 is doing. The V3340 also can be used to capture short video clips. A third mode of operation is the PC/web-cam mode providing live video to your PC via USB. The V3340 comes with 8 MB internal memory built-in to the camera. Internal memory can be extended using Secure Digital (SD) memory cards.

Other features include focus-free operation, automatic white balance, automatic exposure compensation control, an integral flash, a 10-second self-timer, and a tripod-mounting socket. The V3340 comes with a USB cable to download images for viewing and/or editing.

Two AA alkaline batteries supply power whereas built-in power saving logic automatically turns-off the camera to conserve battery power. Image editing software is included with the camera.

The suggested retail price for the camera is $89.95. The V3340 may be purchased at mass merchandisers, consumer electronic stores and other Vivitar resellers nationwide.
