(Wednesday, March 19, 2003 - 16:22 EST)Japanese manufacturer I-O Data Device Inc. is preparing a new AVI camcorder unit dubbed the MotionPix AVMC211, according to an announcement on its website.
The camcorder features a 2.1 megapixel CMOS imager, fixed focal-length lens, and a 1.5" TFT LCD display. As well as capturing videos, the device has a still image mode, and there's also a 2x digital zoom - although it is not a smooth zoom, and has only four steps. Videos are recorded at either 8 or 13 frames per second, and on a 512MB Secure Digital card, videos up to 100 minutes in high mode, or 180 minutes in low mode can be captured. Still images are at resolutions of 2048 x 1536 pixels (interpolated), 1600 x 1200 pixels, or 640 x 480 pixels. Battery life is quoted as 3 hours with the LCD display turned on.
