Review posted for Contax TVS Digital!

In the photo industry, the Contax name carries a certain cachet, as it's long been associated with premium build quality and the excellence of Zeiss optics.

With the 5 megapixel / 3x zoom TVS Digital, Contax is extending their popular "T" series of film-based cameras into the digital realm. Physically, the TVS Digital is clearly worthy of its heritage, with a super-strong titanium body, and a Zeiss lens that's unusually sharp from corner to corner, and that also seems to have significantly less flare than I'm accustomed to seeing in digicam lenses. Image quality is good, if not knock-your-socks-off impressive.

The only hitch is its price - At $899 for the "cheap" version (an all-black model is available for $100 more), it's far more expensive than any of its competition. As such, while it will make an excellent and very functional digicam for Contax enthusiasts and collectors, there are plenty of models on the market that are as good or better, but that sell for much lower prices.

Still, if you're a Contax fan, the TVS is worthy of consideration. Check it out!
