Rollei Germany has announced a new 3 megapixel, 3x optical zoom digital camera - the Rollei dp300.

The camera has a 40 - 120mm equivalent focal length lens, focuses down to 50cm (or 20cm in macro mode), and offers shutter speeds from 1 to 1/14000 second. Images are saved as JPEG files on 16MB of built-in memory or an optional SD card, and AVI MotionJPEG movie clips can also be captured. Files are transferred to a PC over a USB connection, and a switcheable NTSC / PAL video output lets you view images on a TV. A 1.5" LCD monitor allows image framing and review, and power comes from 2 AA batteries. The camera will be available in Europe this month; pricing has not yet been disclosed.
