Canon's EOS 300D digital SLR. Courtesy of Canon, with modifications by Michael R. Tomkins. EOS Digital Rebel: Reviews around the web
By
(Thursday, September 4, 2003 - 14:00 EDT)

At the same time as we're posting our full first-look review of the Canon EOS Digital Rebel, our friends at the other main digicam websites are simultaneously posting their own reviews.

We always recommend readers to "shop around" a little, so to speak, and read all the reviews they can. No one reviewer can uncover everything there is to know about a camera, and by reading multiple reviews you're bound to come out with a better feeling of whether the Digital Rebel is right for you. In that spirit, we'd suggest that when you're done reading our own Canon EOS Digital Rebel first look, you visit the following sites:

  • Digital Camera Resource Page (DCRP First Look: Canon Digital Rebel)
Jeff comments that "If there was one camera that really changed the landscape of digital photography in 2003, it's the Canon Digital Rebel.". His first-look has plenty of info on the camera, accompanied by 18 sample images shot in and around San Francisco.
  • Digital Photography Review (Canon EOS 300D / Digital Rebel Review)
Phil says: "The EOS 300D is a formidable camera, not from a feature set point of view. Not from a body finish point of view (which is actually better than I'm sure you're thinking). Not from how its feature set compares to other digital SLR's (although it can certainly hold its own), but rather for what it offers, for its value for money. And for what this camera could mean for the future of digital SLR's and the entire prosumer digital camera market." His review offers the usual in-depth look at the camera, and a gallery of 20 rather attractive photos from an unusually warm and sunny England.
  • Steve's Digicams (Canon EOS Digital Rebel First Look Review)
Steve writes: "These cameras will be an instant hit with those wanting a digital camera that works the same as their 35mm SLR, and dealers will no doubt sell them as fast as Canon can make them." His detailed look at camera control and layout is accompanied by 18 sample photos from colorful Florida, where the sky always seems to be blue...
