Olympus America has today distributed a press release highlighting its participation in an upcoming 8-day Digital Photography & Imaging Cruise which will allow participants to take a break from it all - all the while improving their photographic skills.

Whilst they cruise around the Southern Caribbean on what Carnival Cruises calls a "floating resort" - the Carnival Legend - workshop attendees will receive instruction from Arthur H. Bleich, feature editor of Digital Camera Magazine. They'll get the chance to use Olympus' UltraZoom digital cameras, and will also receive gifts worth $800 from a variety of sponsors. The first ten people to register for the cruise will also get a $200 ColorVision Spyder with which to calibrate their monitor or LCD display.

Full details on the Digital Photography Workshop At Sea, sponsored by Olympus, Epson, Adobe, and others, is available on the Digital Photography Corner website. The cruise costs from US$1995 to US$2484 for participants (depending on your choice of cabin), whilst non-participating guests can enjoy the cruise for US$959 to US$1234. The cruise will embark from Ft. Lauderdale FL, on January 24, 2004.

Olympus Ultra-Zoom Cameras Will Go To Sea On Digital Photography & Imaging Workshop Cruise

Workshop Participants Will Be Able To Shoot Unique Images With Powerful Olympus Lenses That Really Reach Out

MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Olympus digital cameras will be on board an upcoming 8-day Digital Photography & Imaging Cruise featuring workshops for beginning and intermediate photographers. The cruise will embark from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on January 24, 2004 to the Southern Caribbean on Carnival's new superliner LEGEND.

The cruise is the fourth in a series offering instruction in digital photography, imaging techniques, and printing in a relaxed learning environment. Scheduled ports of call include St. Maarten, Barbados, and Martinique, each with a distinctive culture.

Workshop attendees will each receive hardware and software gifts from participating sponsors valued at more than $800 and will be able to use Olympus Ultra-Zoom digital cameras to shoot scenes that would be impossible to capture using most other digital cameras.

"Olympus Ultra-Zoom cameras open up a whole new world of photography," said Arthur H. Bleich, lead instructor for the cruise and feature editor of Digital Camera Magazine. "On our last workshop cruise, attendees kept commenting on the brilliant color and image sharpness these cameras produced when used to photograph scenics and wildlife, and also how well they softened distracting backgrounds when shooting portraits."

Up to 30 beginners and intermediates will participate in lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on use of a wide range of equipment. They will also take photos, have them critiqued, and print them.

Attendees will be able to upload their pictures to their own website or send them via email to friends and family anywhere in the world through the ship's state-of-the-art satellite facilities which allow transmission while the ship is at sea.
