We've had a couple of emails in the last few days regarding QPict, Rune Lindman's $35 Macintosh media asset manager, which has just been upgraded to v6 for Mac OS X.

Version 5.2.8, released in November, remains available for those of you who've not upgraded from OS 9 - but if you're on OS X you'll definitely want to upgrade. The list of feature additions is quite impressive:
  • RAW Image file support
  • PostScript support
  • Customizable toolbar
  • Kiosk mode
  • ColorSync ICC support
  • Move To / Copy To commands
  • Open With command
  • Improved media import
  • Vastly improved performance
  • New index database format
  • Improved search
  • Full screen index mode
  • Unicode Support
  • Support for icon files
  • Task window is now delayed a few seconds
  • Media export window now a sheet window
  • Option to automatically eject camera after import
  • Support for Close command in dock for collapsed windows
  • Drag items from list view
  • Retain EXIF when exporting
  • Windows movable even when app is busy
  • Support for media files with PICT in resource fork
  • Simplify rotation
  • Scroll wheel support in list view
If you'd already found and downloaded QPict v6.0 in the last couple of days, you may want to be aware that a minor bug-fix v6.0.1 was released on Tuesday to fix QPict Help, and improve support for RAW and unicode named files. For more information or to download QPict, visit the QPict Web site.
