Galbraith Updates Macintosh/Windows Processor Speed Tests
By Mike Pasini, The Imaging Resource
(Wednesday, January 7, 2004 - 12:23 EST)

Much has changed since Rob Galbraith's first report a year ago. On the Macintosh end of the rope, things are faster thanks to the G5 and Panther's improved handling of FAT-formatted removable media for faster card transfers. On the Windows end, the OS remains the same but enjoys some tweaks in the architecture of the Intel processor.

"Laptops aside," Rob notes after reporting a Dell Inspiron shut out a 15-inch PowerBook, "the combination of faster hardware and better software has brought about a significant performance jump for pro digital photographers using the Mac. And while the PC is still quicker overall, the Mac is at least back in the race." Read Rob's report for the full story.
