CANTO.GIF PRESS RELEASE: Canto releases Cumulus Update

Version 6.0.2 includes various improvements, enhanced performance and reintroduction of print capabilities and palette view

April 19, 2004, San Francisco, Berlin. Canto, a global leader in Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Cumulus 6.0.2. for myCumulus, Single User and Workgroup. With enhanced stability and performance being a constant feature that is introduced with each update, version 6.0.2 also offers some new features. Furthermore, due to popular demand, some features that were found in previous versions of Cumulus are re-introduced in this version.

These include the Palette Mode, and printing of records, categories and previews (based on the selected View Set), for example. Some new features have also been included in the Preferences dialog. There are now new options in User settings for the Print, Search and Display functions. For example after a search the results remain in the chosen sort order set by the user. In the Display panel, the settings can now enable the image displayed to be limited to its original size. This is essential in the event that some images may appear distorted due to the image being stretched and re-sized to fit the window.

Using EJaP, Canto's new Java-based technology, more new features have been included or re-introduced. Assigning and detaching selected categories, merging categories, modifying volume identifier, preparing catalogs for EXIF and for IPTC, and Find and Replace for metadata stored on an asset have also been included. Canto has integrated the new EJaPs into the application so that users perceive them as part of Cumulus; this seamless integration is one of the jutting advantages of EJaPs.

Cumulus 6.0.2 also includes a Quark XPress (QXP) filter on Mac OS X. Canto also releases QXP AssetStore for OS X which is preinstalled with all Single User and Client versions (which is also the case with Cumulus Office Suite and PDF AssetStore). PowerPoint support modules that are part of Office Suite are also be available on Mac OS X.

Availability

myCumulus, Cumulus Single User and Cumulus Workgroup v6.0.2 are available immediately for download from Canto's website. Server versions for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Solaris, as well as Client and Single User versions for Mac OS X and Windows are offered.
