CANTO.GIF PRESS RELEASE: Canto launches Cumulus WebAlbum

New Cumulus module lets users publish images as Web ready albums

May 13, 2004, San Francisco, Berlin -- Canto, a global leader in Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Cumulus WebAlbum, a tool to create Web-based albums that are built on static HTML pages. Displaying images and even entire Cumulus catalogs on the Internet in a customized and personalized album is now a simple process.

The layout and functionality of WebAlbum can be customized using different skins, such as those provided by Canto, other providers or ones created by the user. This gives the user full control of the design and look of each and every album.

"Availability of WebAlbum confirms Canto's continued commitment to provide unmatched image management capability over the web that is cross platform and completely scalable from enterprise to single user," said Cantos Senior Product Manager Ulrich Knocke. "After introducing Cumulus Web Publisher Pro and Internet Client Pro for publishing JSP-based Web pages where image searches or uploading capability is required, we now offer a tool for users to create their own image galleries without any knowledge of HTML."

With WebAlbum, users can select records in Cumulus and the original image assets are converted to files suitable for display on the Web. This includes the automatic creation of copies of the assets in the Web ready JPEG image file format. WebAlbum also offers thumbnails, image scaling and links to the original assets. Furthermore, WebAlbum will create thumbnails of your images and display them in index pages in HTML. Navigation through the images is simple and slide shows can also be created easily. WebAlbum also lets users create local albums on their hard disk or on CD-ROM.

Albums created with WebAlbum can be easily uploaded to any Web server with the integrated FTP client. They can be viewed with any standard browser, thereby making it accessible to anyone from anywhere. With its ease of use and fast performance WebAlbum is a further enhancement to the Cumulus product line that can be used for many purposes from home use to professional employment in companies.
