Sanyo Japan has today announced two new Xacti digital camera models that share a similar body, but with differing sensors and lenses.

The Sanyo Xacti DSC-S3 and DSC-S4 models feature 3.2 and 4 megapixel CCD image sensors respectively. The lower-resolution DSC-S3 couples its sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens at an expected street price of ¥33,000, approximately equivalent to US$292 / €243 / CAD$402 / £164. The higher-res DSC-S4 features a 2.8x optical zoom lens, and should have a street price of ¥42,000, approximately equivalent to US$372 / €310 / CAD$512 / £209. (All non-Japanese price estimates ignore exchange rate fluctuations, taxes and duties). Full specifications and product images courtesy of Sanyo follow.

Thanks to IR reader and regular correspondent on all things Sanyo, Jerry Sehl at Online Access Networks Inc. for the tipoff on this story. Jerry tells us that he's got a special price of $499.99 on Sanyo's IDC-1000ZU digital camera while stock lasts, incidentally (we think he's earned a little plug in return for the tip!)
