IR launches its Photo of the Day contest!

There's no question that our readers represent an amazing body of photographic talent, and we finally decided it wasn't fair to keep all that talent under wraps. After years of seeing the amazing shots some of you have shared with us, we decided to create a forum to share the very best of them with the world.

Our new Photo of the Day contest launches today, thanks in particular to some early testing and photo submissions by our loyal newsletter subscribers. (Thanks, gang! - And special kudos to reader Richard Pruitt, whose image (thumbnail at right) has the honor of being the first photo of the day in the new contest.)

Every day, a fresh photo will appear atop our news page, as well as at the special site we set up to house the contest, www.dailydigitalphoto.com.

At the end of each month, a panel of judges will select the three best photos to receive first, second, and third prizes. (Prizes to be announced.)

Sound like fun? - Well, join on in! Here's how:

1) Visit the entry page to submit your photo. (One submission per person per month, please.)

2) Upload a JPEG image. We display winners with 480 pixels in the largest dimension, so you might want to resize your image (it will cut your upload time too). The image may be edited, enhanced and modified as you see fit.

3) While there is no restriction on content, we do not display images that are not in good taste or unsuitable for a general audience.

4) Finally, by submitting your work, you assert you own the copyright of the image and give Imaging Resource the right to display it in this contest should it be judged a winner.

Winners are notified by email when their photo has been selected as a daily winner, or for one of the three monthly prizes. Winning entries are displayed here on our news page, and on the Photo of the Day site itself.

We'd wish you good luck, but based on what we've seen over the years, it doesn't look like you need it!
