Sanyo USA has announced its new VPC-C4 "cameracorder" in the run-up to this year's Consumer Electronics Show (starting Thursday Jan 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada).

The VPC-C4 looks to be identical to the existing DMX-C4 model sold in Japan. First announced for the Japanese market back in August of last year, the VPC-C4 features a four megapixel imager and 5.8x optical zoom lens in an unusual vertical form factor that was pioneered with the DMX-C1 model (sold Stateside as the Fisher FVD-C1). JPEG images and MPEG-4 movies are stored on Secure Digital memory cards, and can be viewed / previewed on a 1.8" LCD display. Connectivity options include USB and NTSC / PAL video, while power comes from a DB-L20 rechargeable Lithium Ion battery.

Full specs and product photos can be found in our earlier news item.
