PRESS RELEASE: Kodak Equips KODAK DLS Software Enabled Minilabs with KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology for Better Pictures

NORITSU and KIS Digital Minilabs First to Benefit from New KODAK DLS Software; Provides Improved Image Quality and Workflow

ORLANDO, Fla., February 20 — Leveraging its strong relationships with Noritsu and KIS, Eastman Kodak Company today announced enhancements to both the NORITSU System 33 DLS Series and KIS System 80 DLS Series digital minilabs. Both digital minilabs will be available with the latest KODAK Digital Lab System (DLS) Software, which is designed to help retailers leverage digital imaging through streamlined workflows. And for the first time, the digital minilabs will feature KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology allowing for dramatically improved image quality.

“Digital picture printing at retail is the fastest growing printing solution in the industry,” said Patrick King, general manager of Consumer Output, Digital & Film Imaging Systems; and vice president, Eastman Kodak Company. “Kodak is taking significant strides to make it as easy as possible for retailers to maximize this opportunity, helping them generate incremental printing sales and increase margins with premium services from their digital minilabs.”

KODAK PERFECT TOUCH TechnologyBoth the NORITSU System 33 and KIS System 80 DLS series of digital minilabs will feature an upgraded version of KODAK DLS software. The software is designed to leverage digital image and data processing power to enable lab productivity and workflow efficiencies. The reduced order management time helps quickly process and deliver pictures to consumers while they shop.

For the first time, the digital minilabs will have KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology. Previously available only via off-site lab processing, this technology individually analyzes and digitally processes each picture to reveal less red-eye, more vibrant colors, richer detail and fewer dark shadows. The resulting picture improvements allow people to relive their moments the way they remember them.

Improved Productivity with Greater Connectivity
Greater connectivity between KODAK Picture Maker G3 kiosks and minilabs provide consumers with the ability to place their order directly from a KODAK Picture Maker Order Station, preview and select the exact digital images they want, and then print them to the retailer’s on-site digital lab system. Additionally, the consumer-friendly touch screen lets consumers zoom, crop, adjust brightness, reduce red-eye and choose print sizes and quantities of their selected pictures.

New Scanner Provides Retailers with Affordable Entry to Digital Services
Continuing its efforts to provide retailers with more options to create and maintain profitable photo centers, Kodak announced the worldwide availability of the KODAK F-135 Film Scanner. The KODAK F-135 Film Scanner provides retailers with an affordable, flexible entry to digital printing. It is particularly suited to retailers who want to provide digital printing and KODAK Picture CD services to customers, but might not have a printing volume that merits the purchase of a full digital minilab.

In addition to its low cost of entry into the digital space, the KODAK F-135 Film Scanner equips retailers with multiple and unique digital product offerings without modifying workflow. The scanning system:

  • Scans 35 mm film at multiple resolutions and with DIGITAL ICE technology capability;
  • Enables digital printing with connectivity to the KODAK 6800 Photo Printer and other KODAK printers;
  • Outputs KODAK Picture CDs with thumbnails and the exclusive KODAK Picture Folio;
  • And offers connectivity to the KODAK Picture Maker G3 family of kiosks and digital and hybrid minilab systems, lowering the cost of a print by using silver halide paper.
