Ricoh Japan announces Caplio GX8
By
(Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 18:22 EDT)

A press release today from Ricoh Japan has announced its new Caplio GX8 digital camera.

The new camera is very closely based on the existing Caplio GX model, with only two significant changes. One is the image sensor, which has been upgraded from a 5.1 to an 8.2 megapixel CCD. The other change is an increase in the built in memory - formerly 16MB, but now 26MB. The 3x optical zoom lens is said to be a new design, although the lens specs listed are identical to the original GX, and the camera body remains basically unchanged.

The Ricoh Caplio GX8 will ship in Japan from May 20th, with pricing not disclosed at this time.
