Fujifilm announces FY2005 results By
Michael R. Tomkins, The Imaging Resource (Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 16:56 EDT)Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd. has released its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2005.
According to the Fujifilm website, the company had revenues totalling ¥2,527,374 million - 1.5% less than the previous fiscal year. Operating income for the quarter at ¥164,442 million was 11.1% below last year, but net income still rose 2.7% to ¥84,500 million for the quarter.
Fujifilm's financial results document notes that revenue benefited from demand for flat-panel display materials, but was adversely affected by a "rapid deceleration" in growth of the digital camera market in Japan, North America and Europe. The North American digicam market in particular slowed its growth during the latter half of the year, and competition spurred price-cutting as well. Another factor was apparently the drop in prices of recording media, again due to competition which continues to intensify.
