Store videos as long as five minutes and play them in your Phanfare slide shows.

Phanfare today announced expanded video capabilities for its Web photo sharing site and an update to its Phanfare Photo client software to take advantage of the new features.

New Features

The video limit has been increased to allow uploads of any video under five minutes long. See: http://support.phanfare.com/doc/File_size_and_bandwidth_limits

Videos can now be played in your online slide shows. When a video plays in an online Web album, the album music is automatically lowered. See: http://support.phanfare.com/doc/Changing_slideshow_options

Phanfare provides instructions for including your videos in a blog, eBay auction and on other Web sites. See: http://blog.phanfare.com/ and http://support.phanfare.com/blog_support.

Video sharing now converts more video formats to Flash 8 using a new video converter. Newly supported formats include WMV and most modern QuickTime codecs. The new Flash 8 output provides improved streaming. "We have gone back and converted all videos that previously failed to convert," CEO Andew Erlichson said. See: http://support.phanfare.com/doc/Supported_video_formats

New versions of Phanfare Photo have also been released for the Mac (improved uploader, stats support and bug fixes) and Windows to support the new video features.

Phanfare hosted much of our PMA coverage, BTW, where the new video conversion technology got plenty of work.
