Japanese consumer electronics and office automation company Ricoh has issued updated firmware for its Caplio R5 digital camera model on its global website.

Version 1.55 of the Ricoh Caplio R5 firmware is said to improve stability of the camera's USB connection to a computer. The new version also incorporates changes from three previous firmware updates issued since last October. These earlier versions improved SD card write stability, auto white balance and macro-mode auto focus accuracy, and LCD image quality, as well as fixing a problem with the camera's histogram function.

The Caplio R5 was unveiled last August, and combines seven megapixel resolution with a 7.1x wide angle zoom lens. The new firmware is available for download on the Ricoh website.
