microtek.jpg LaserSoft Releases SilverFast Update for Microtek ArtixScan M1/F1

Microtek is working on a ScanWizard Leopard version, too.

LaserSoft Imaging has recently released updates to its SilverFast software for the Microtek ArtixScan M1 and F1. Version 6.5.5r4b was released Feb. 25 and is available from the LaserSoft Imaging Web site at http://www.silverfast.com.

Changes in 6.5.5r4 specific to the M1 and its non-North American version, the F1, include:

Version 6.5.5r4b: (2008-02-25)

• Bugfix for Microtek ArtixScan M1/F1: Further measures taken to avoid even very thin lines based image problem. These may occur if the scanners comes into start-stop mode when scanning very large images.

Version 6.5.5r4a: (2008-02-20)

• Bugfix for Microtek ArtixScan M1/F1: In transparency mode horizontal lines could occur when scanning larger originals.

Version 6.5.5r4: (2008-01-16)

• Improvement for Multi-Exposure: Improve horizontal alignment for Multi-Exposure scans.

• Basic mode: SilverFast Basic mode now Leopard (OSX 10.5) compatible.

Leopard Compatibility

The Microtek ScanWizard Pro software and the SilverFast software bundled with the Microtek ArtixScan M1 and ArtixScan M1 Pro scanners are not compatible with Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.

LaserSoft Imaging released version 6.5.5r2 of SilverFast on Nov. 5, 2007 that is compatible with Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.

Microtek engineers are working on updates to the ScanWizard Pro software to make it compatible with Mac OS 10.5 Leopard. A spokesperson for the company said it expects to release a new version of ScanWizard Pro compatible with Mac OS 10.5 in early April. It will be made available as a free download from the Microtek Web site at http://support.microtek.com.
