PRESS RELEASE: Karen Sperling Adds Photoshop to the Artistry Learning Materials

Karen Sperling, the original Corel Painter expert—she wrote the first manual when the software debuted 17 years ago—is pleased to announce the addition of Adobe Photoshop to her Artistry instructional materials and classes.

Photographers can learn to turn photos into paintings in Corel Painter and now, additionally, in Adobe Photoshop, from the Artistry offerings, including:

  • The monthly Artistry Tips and Tricks ezine
  • The upcoming Painting for Photographers book
  • The Artistry Seminars in Malibu, CA and in Miami, FL, including the Artistry Painting for Photographers Retreat, the Artistry GARTEL Marketing Seminar, and the Artistry Creative Photoshop Seminar.

"Photographers enjoy learning to use Painter to offer painted  portraits as a deluxe add-on to their photography businesses," says  Sperling, whose art has been exhibited in New York's prestigious Chelsea section at Monkdogz Urban Art Gallery. "Photoshop's latest  brushes give photographers many additional choices for turning photos into paintings, so the time has come to offer instruction for both software programs."

Sperling believes there's room on all photographers' computers for both Painter and Photoshop."

It's easier to paint brush strokes with subtle textures and blends  in Painter. On the other hand, getting a bolder, maybe even slicker result is more direct in Photoshop. You can adjust controls in both programs to get just about any effect you want. In my tutorials, book and classes, I'll be showing what each program does best without the user having to jump through software hoops to get good results."

Artistry Tips and Tricks is published monthly in Acrobat format and features step-by-step written instructions and accompanying illustrations showing how to turn photos into paintings in Corel Painter, and, starting with the June 2008 issue, Adobe Photoshop. The ezine additionally provides art lessons for photographers who never painted before.

The new Painting for Photographers book, Sperling's fourth Painter book, will be a printed guide for photographers who are interested in offering painted portraits to their clients. It will cover the Painter and Photoshop steps and art lessons for turning photos into paintings, in addition to related subjects like how to paint on the canvas after the paintings are printed and a special chapter on marketing by veteran artist and photographer, Laurence Gartel.

At the Artistry Painting for Photographers Retreats, photographers learn the Painter and Photoshop steps and art lessons for painting photos from Karen Sperling, who has taught and demo'd Painter for 17 years in many venues across the United States, ranging from Disney Feature Animation and American Film Institute to the national WPPI and PPA conventions.

At the Artistry GARTEL Marketing Seminars, photographers learn to market their photos and paintings from Laurence Gartel, who has had commissions and international museum and gallery shows of his art and photographs for over 30 years.

And the Artistry Creative Photoshop Seminar, taught by Laurence Gartel, is an in-depth exploration of Photoshop's brushes for turning photos into paintings.

Artistry is a Certified Corel Training Partner and all Artistry Seminars are PPA approved merit programs.
