PRESS RELEASE: New Website Launches Innovative Lost-And-Found Technology

SendMeHome.com Saves Money, Restores Faith in Humanity

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., September 16th, 2008- Today SendMeHome.com launches the world’s first free lost and found recovery service. Through the SendMeHome.com website, users are able to register personal valuables which are each given a unique ID code. The user can then write this code on the item, print free labels, or order professional labels. Should the item ever be lost, the SendMeHome.com website allows the owner to communicate anonymously with anyone who might find it in order to arrange its return.

The service aims to rally the good nature and honesty of strangers by making it easier and safer than ever for them to return lost items. James Tamplin, SendMeHome.com’s head of Business Development commented on the social nature of the service, saying: “We believe that our users will be thankful for the money and hassle they are spared, but I think they will be even more pleasantly surprised by the kindness of strangers.”

SendMeHome.com will save users millions of dollars by facilitating the safe return of the mountains of lost property that accumulates each year in public areas such as airports, shopping malls and taxis. Last year alone, Transport for London collected 148,000 lost items ranging from 14,000 mobile phones to a single lawnmower. Meanwhile in Los Angeles roughly 12,000 items, including 1,800 bicycles, were left on city buses during 2006.

Because the service is free, SendMeHome.com allows users to protect an unlimited number of items, not just their most valuable ones. “Our users can’t predict what they will lose, or when they might lose it, so we don’t make them try to guess. They can tag as many items as they like - from cell phones to golf clubs to textbooks - without spending a dime,” says SendMeHome.com CEO, Andrew Lee.

About SendMeHome.com
SendMeHome.com is the world’s first free lost-and-found recovery service. While similar services do exist, SendMeHome.com makes paying for lost-and-found protection a thing of the past. In today’s world of ever increasing complexity and mobility, misplacing items – especially expensive consumer electronics – is a common occurrence. SendMeHome.com offers a service that can be used on virtually any personal item, from baseball gloves to cell phones, pets to laptops, camping gear to hubcaps, anything that you don't want to lose can be registered. SendMeHome.com’s benefits include:

  • 100% Free – You can use our service to register as many items as you like for free with absolutely no hidden fees. Purchasing our professional labels is optional and can be done at our online store.
  • Protection Forever – When you register an item with SendMeHome.com, the ID it is assigned remains valid forever. The item can be modified as needed but the ID will never expire.
  • Privacy Protection – SendMeHome.com protects your valuables by using anonymous tag IDs instead of your personal information; these IDs are shorter, easier to write and are more secure than displaying your personal contact information. Additionally, if your contact information changes you can update it quickly on our website without needing to re-label your belongings.
  • Theft Deterrence – Research shows that items with identification are less likely to be stolen than those without. Additionally, if your property is stolen and then recovered, our labels provide the police with a method to identify you as the rightful owner.

SendMeHome.com was founded in July 2008 and is headquartered in Santa Barbara, California.
