Last April, Samsung announced two new camcorder models destined for US shores, both sharing an unusual ergonomic design.

The Samsung SMX-C10 and Samsung SMX-C14 camcorders are scheduled to ship here from next month, but the buying public in Korea has a bit of a head start. According to a Korean-language press release on the Samsung website, the Samsung C14 is now available in that country.

The high-definition Samsung SMX-C14 uses H.264 compression, and features 16GB of internal memory. Video is framed and reviewed on a 2.7-inch swivelling LCD display, and the design features Samsung's tilted "Active Angle Lens" design, previously seen on the full-HD Samsung HMX-R10 model. The Samsung C14 includes Hyper Image Stabilization, and has a 10x optical zoom range. Battery life is rated at 6 hours and 20 minutes, and although we've yet to see any specification on the device's sensor resolution, Samsung Korea does note that the SMX-C14 is capable of 1,600 x 1,200 pixel still images.
