Canon's EOS 7D digital SLR. Photo provided by Canon USA Inc. Canon prepares 7D ghosting fix
By Michael R. Tomkins, The Imaging Resource
(Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 13:04 EDT)

Canon USA has published a service advisory describing a potential image quality defect in burst-mode images shot with its EOS 7D digital SLR.

Paraphrasing the advisory, the issue manifests itself as subtle ghosting of the previously captured image in the subsequent frame of a continuous-mode burst. The ghosting is apparently more noticeable in images with sub-optimal exposure, where levels have been adjusted after capture.

Canon USA's service advisory states that a firmware fix is planned to address the problem. Precise details on expected availability for the fix aren't currently available, nor is there a workaround suggested for the problem. More on this story will be found on our news page when the service advisory is updated.
