New model makes digitizing slides effortless for users at any level

CERRITOS, Calif. (May 27, 2010) – Plustek Technology Inc. (www.plustek.com/usa), a manufacturer of imaging devices (including portable scanners, sheet fed/flat bed scanners, wide format scanners) and Network video recorders for IP cameras, today announced an extension to their award-winning OpticFilm line of scanners with the launch of the OpticFilm 7400, designed to take 35mm film and slides and convert them (at up to 7200 dpi resolution) into high-quality digital images – ideal for home users and amateur photographers.

Improvements over previous models include a new four-scan multi-sampling and multi-exposure engine designed to replicate every nuance of a slide image in exquisite detail. The OpticFilm 7400 is bundled with SilverFast 6.6 SE Plus (Multi-Exposure) software, the latest from LaserSoft Imaging. Multi-Exposure is a technology that integrates Plustek hardware and Silverfast software. It increases Dynamic Range (Dmax) of the scanner by adjusting the exposure for the red, green and blue channels individually. The result is more accurate exposure and color fidelity even when scanning film that has been traditionally difficult such as Kodachrome. The OpticFilm 7400 allows novice users the ability to quickly and easily produce high quality images.

The OpticFilm 7400 also uses LED illumination, which is thirty percent more efficient than traditional cold cathode illumination systems. LED illumination also provides more accurate color rendering, has a consistent light output over the life of the scanner, requires no warm up time and requires less calibration.

The OpticFilm 7400 scanner features a USB 2.0 interface and is one of the highest resolution film scanners on the market (7200x7200 dpi). The scanner is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and MAC 10.3.9 and higher, including Leopard. The OpticFilm 7400 is priced at $349, respectively.

The entire Plustek OpticFilm line is available now. All Plustek scanners can be purchased from authorized resellers, DMRs, VARs, and distributors including Ingram Micro and D&H. For more information, please contact Plustek at [email protected].
