Wacom introduces a stylish addition to its range of interactive tablets that can enhance anyone’s creative flair

21/09/2010 -- Wacom today unveils the Bamboo Special Edition interactive tablet – a new pen and multi-touch input device that is ideal for consumers who like to use computers to be creative. Part of the successful Bamboo range, Bamboo Special Edition stands out from its family through the unique colour combination of silver and black, as well as its exclusive bundle that includes a valuable set of software programmes and a protective black carry case. Operated by either multi-touch or the digital pen, Bamboo Special Edition supports a full set of gestures to scroll, zoom, rotate and flip through photographs or documents. It provides an easy, natural and enjoyable way to interact with a computer.

Boasting a new silver and black design, the slim and elegant Bamboo Special Edition is compatible with today’s desktop environment, and is the perfect accessory for any Apple laptop. Offering two versions (small and medium), the innovative and ergonomic design makes it a pleasure to use. The tablet’s horizontal symmetry means it can even be rotated 180 degrees for both right and left-handed users. With the addition of customisable ExpressKeys, strain on muscles and joints are reduced. For consumers who use computers every day and like to be creative, it is the perfect tool for self-expression and personalisation.

Bamboo Special Edition supports gestures of up to four fingers and is even easier for users to let their fingers do the scrolling, zooming, rotating or flipping. Simple taps or gestures provide a natural way to interact with what is on the screen. The result is an exciting variety of creative opportunities. The Medium version, with its larger surface area, is ideal for making scrapbooks, arranging photos, drawing or painting digitally. While the Small edition is perfect for personalising social networking profiles and communicating with friends and family.

Merging pen and touch technology into one device brings the best of both worlds. The advanced, pressure sensitive pen technology means that the pen is still central to the Bamboo experience. A few simple strokes with the pen can add a doodle, signature or picture to any digital document. The process is similar to using a traditional pen and paper and provides pinpoint accuracy, helping users to easily draw natural strokes or retouch digital images.

Designed specifically for the Bamboo Special Edition, the tablet comes with a high quality black case that keeps the tablet secure when on the move, providing protection from knocks and scratches.

Software bundle
Bamboo Special Edition in small and medium sizes come with an impressive software bundle:

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 – the bestselling consumer photo-editing software

  • Corel Painter Essentials 4 – photo-painting, drawing and painting software

  • ArtRage 3 Studio Pro – painting and drawing software including new tools such as the watercolour brush, auto smoothing Inking Pen and the special effect Gloop Pen

Bamboo Special Edition Medium also offers Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 Standard – filter software plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Elements.

The Bamboo experience
As with the full Bamboo range of interactive tablets, both versions of the Bamboo Special Edition (small and medium) provide full access to an ever-growing collection of useful software applications called Bamboo apps. Frequently updated and downloaded free from the Bamboo Dock, there are many applications for games, sketching, composing music and for sharing and connecting with family and friends.
