Panasonic Corp. has now released a firmware update for its LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm F4.0-5.8 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens, whose development was first revealed during the Photokina tradeshow.

The new LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm firmware v1.3 makes two changes, as compared to the previous v1.2 release from November 2009. Autofocus performance is said to have been improved, and the time taken to initialize the lens during start up has been reduced. Updates made in the previous v1.2 and v1.1 releases, which improved AF and stabilization performance during movie recording, as well as instability when used with the Olympus E-P1 camera body, have all been rolled into the new update.
