Casio Electronics Co. Ltd. has issued a firmware update for its EXILIM EX-H20G digital camera that extends its GPS mapping capabilities to include a new feature.

No other changes are made in the new firmware, which carries version number 1.01. The updated Casio Exilim H20G firmware allows the camera to record GPS track logs in the Open Geospatial Consortium's KML (Keyhole Markup Language) format, which can be read by applications such as Google Earth and Marble. The update, which is detailed in a manual addendum PDF on Casio's website, allows the user to trigger conversion of the camera's internal track log to KML format, before it is saved to the memory card. A new log is created each day, and all times in the log match the camera's internal clock settings at the moment when the log output function is performed.

The updated Casio H20G firmware v1.01 can be downloaded from Casio's website.
