PRESS RELEASE: Get Medieval On Your Pictures!

Zürich, Switzerland -- 2011-FEB-25 -- Swiss developer cf/x have released 'mosaic', an application that turns your photos into beautiful mosaics. Sporting a streamlined and intuitive interface, cf/x mosaic allows any user to create stunning original artwork from existing photographs in mere seconds. Even though primarily aimed at casual users, the application creates high resolution images that easily meet the demands of high-end graphic artists and studios.

cf/x mosaic approaches the ancient art of assembling tiles into a picture from a 'results first' perspective. The user starts with one of many presets that always produce good results: Within seconds, a first mosaic is created. From there, the user starts to explore how changing a few simple settings influences the result. Since the application is extraordinarily fast, exploring becomes fun, with many intermediate results documenting the artist's creative path. The hard part usually comes later when it's time to decide which of the many great results should be discarded.

cf/x mosaic sets itself apart from traditional mosaic creation tools by a number of unusual features: It supports non-uniform tile size (giving the result a highly stylized, modern look), special tile types (some involving only outlines of tiles), tight color control and a unique 'messy assembly' option that introduces a soothing element of disorganization into the result. More than 20 presets that cover the range from 'ancient greek' over 'traditional medieval' to 'abstract modernism' serve as convenient starting points for mosaics that never look boring and are always fun to create.

The application features integration with iPhoto, Aperture, Preview, Mail, social web sites and exports to most common image formats. cf/x mosaic requires a Mac (PPC or Intel) running MacOS 10.5 or later and at least 1 GB of RAM. It costs USD 19.99; a free demo can be downloaded from www.cfxsoftware.com.

Additionally, we expect mosaic to be available from Apple's Mac App Store soon.
