Information on the earthquake's impact in the Tohoku Kanto region.

22.03.2011 -- On Friday March 11th a very powerful earthquake shook Northern Japan, which created a huge tsunami. Hoya Corporation’s management, our mother company based in Tokyo, sends its deepest compassion to the citizens who have been hit by the catastrophe.

PENTAX Imaging System's employees were lucky enough not to suffer from this and are fine. Surely some of them have been suffering very minor injuries, but nothing serious. PENTAX Imaging System's headquarters has only suffered minor damage.

The events that have followed the earthquake have had enormous, out of reach consequences. Therefore, for the time being, we are not able to say what outcomes this might have on our colleagues' lives and our business.

On top of all this, the electric power supply is being reduced by the Tokyo Electric Power Company.

In order to help the northern part of the country get back on track, the Hoya Corporation has put substantial amounts of medical instruments at their disposal. It also has donated 100 million yens.

We are in permanent contact with our colleagues and will keep you informed on how and when the situation evolves.

You can follow more news about the situation of the total Hoya group here : http://www.hoya.co.jp/english/news/latest/index.html
