Nikon's D1X digital camera Full specifications for D1X and D1H posted!

French website posts full specifications of the D1X and D1H, that were earlier accidentally posted early by Nikon's Australian distributor...

We somehow knew we'd be returning to this story a little sooner than Monday... Earlier today, we posted that news of two upcoming cameras had been broken after a French website called Chasseur d'Images posted brief details and Nikon's Australian distributor accidentally posted the entire specifications for the new units... The pages on both sites were promptly taken down once it was realised that the cameras, the D1H and D1X were not supposed to have been announced yet - but many people saw them in the brief time that they were up.

One of those people was Katz Laurent, who runs another website in France called Objectif Numerique. If the name seems familiar, that is because we recently posted a link to their Sanyo IDC-1000Z preview... Katz was in contact this afternoon to let us know that after having spoken to Nikon France, he had decided to go ahead and post the specifications in full, since he wasn't under a non-disclosure agreement, and since the Nikon distributor he'd gotten the specs from counts as a fairly reliable source.

As we'd hinted in the previous news item, we remain under a non-disclosure agreement ourselves, so we cannot comment on whether the specifications are accurate. What we can say is that they make for interesting reading! You can read the specifications on the D1H and the D1X on separate pages, along with a translation of the French-language news item here. Watch this space Monday morning for the official word from Nikon, once our NDA expires and we're officially able to talk about it.
