Bubblejet/digicam combo prototype appears at CeBIT...

We told you back on November 1st 2000 ("Canon working on digital camera/bubblejet combo!") about an unusual concept digital camera that Canon was working on, which featured a built-in bubblejet printer, and the folks at LetsGoDigital.nl have today posted a number of photos of the device. The camera, which takes cartridges containing ink and 20 sheets of roughly credit-card sized paper, features USB connectivity and CompactFlash storage.

Let'sGoDigital, who have several photos of the camera from different angles, noted the following new details... The camera features a 2x optical zoom lens, which covers 5.4 - 10.8mm f/2.8 - f/4.0. The camera will apparently feature at least a 1.3 megapixel CCD. It isn't clear at this time if it will ever be available to purchase, or if it is merely a proof of concept...

Thanks to LetsGoDigital.nl for giving us permission to use their image of the Canon prototype in the headline of this news item! Be sure to keep an eye on their bilingual Dutch/English coverage of CeBIT 2001, live from the showfloor in Hanover, Germany!
