Original Source Press Release:
Nikon announces ultra-lightweight Coolpix 775!|
(Wednesday, April 25, 2001 - 03:58 EDT)
New digicam is lightest with 3x optical zoom lens...
Along with its announcement of the new Coolpix 995, Nikon Inc. has today announced a new ultra-compact, lightweight digital camera, the Coolpix 775. Weighing in at 6.5 ounces without batteries, Nikon bills the Coolpix 775 as 'the lightest 3x zoom digital camera in the world' - Canon's PowerShot S300 being some 30% heavier at 8.4 ounces, and Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-P1 being 35% heavier (although this weight is inclusive of batteries, and hence somewhat unfair to the P1). The Coolpix 775 doesn't quite match the S300 on size however, being some 42% larger by volume than that camera; by comparison to Sony's DSC-P1 the Coolpix 775 is about 5% smaller volume-wise. It is worth noting that the DSC-P1 is also a 3 megapixel camera, where the other cameras are both 2.1 megapixel units, and that the Coolpix 775 at an MSRP of $449 is significantly cheaper than the S300 and P1. A comparison of all three cameras can be found here. Other features of the Coolpix 775 include 1.5", 110,000 pixel LCD display, CompactFlash storage, built-in flash, USB connectivity and macro focusing to only 4 centimeters.
