Four months after the company's last introductions, reports suggest it will withdraw from two markets at once...

A news item from British online IT daily 'The Register' spotted by Newsletter Editor Mike Pasini suggests that Agfa-Gevaert N.V. is withdrawing from both the digital camera and consumer imaging marketplaces. Agfa had been considering a sale of its consumer imaging division which competes in both markets, but on June 11th announced that these plans had fallen through.

According to The Register, Agfa has already told resellers not to expect any more digital cameras. The company will also drop low-end consumer scanners, but will continue to manufacture high-end units. The company last announced three new scanners (the SnapScan e26, e42 and e52) and a new digital camera (the ePhoto CL45) in March of this year.
