Steve Sanders tries out the lower-spec sibling of the DiMAGE 7...

The fine folks at Steve's Digicams have posted the first in-depth look we've seen at Minolta's DiMAGE 5 digital camera. First officially announced alongside the higher-spec DiMAGE 7 (which shares the same body and lens) back in late May, the DiMAGE 5 features a 3.34 megapixel CCD, 7x optical zoom lens, Microdrive-compatible CompactFlash storage and an array of manual capabilities.

Steve has only posted a 'first look' thus far, so no conclusions yet - but there's plenty of info to keep you interested! There are also a range of sample photos, but bear in mind that this being a pre-production camera, the results could differ substantially from what a final version is capable of. It should offer a good idea of a baseline for what the camera can do, though...
