Micro-porous media in 'Instant-Dry' line claimed to offer best-in-class qualities...

Eastman Kodak Co. has today announced a new line of inkjet paper dubbed 'Instant-Dry'. Two products are available in the line, Kodak Professional Instant-Dry Photographic Glossy Paper and Kodak Professional Instant-Dry Photographic Satin Paper, and Kodak claims that both types offer "best-in-class drying, image quality and lamination properties"...

The company is exhibiting the new media this week at the Print 2001 trade show in Chicago, and says that whilst the media is targetted at its Kodak Professional 5260 inkjet printer, it should also give good results with other manufacturers' printers. The paper is compatible with both pigment and dye-based inks, and is claimed to offer instant drying on any printer system including high-speed piezo printers, as well as "both light and ozone stability that is world class for instant dry-type media".

Pricing and availability information isn't disclosed in Kodak's press release, which notes that the paper will sell at a "very competitive price".

New Kodak Professional Instant-Dry Photographic Papers Deliver Best-in-Class Inkjet Drying, Image Quality and Lamination Properties

Glossy or Satin Finishes for Durable, Versatile Output from Thermal or Piezo Printers

CHICAGO, September 6 - Kodak Professional today announced a new line of micro-porous inkjet media that delivers best-in-class drying, image quality and lamination properties. Kodak Professional Instant-Dry Photographic Glossy Paper and Kodak Professional Instant-Dry Photographic Satin Paper broaden an already diverse family of Kodak Professional inkjet media increasingly recognized for its color reproduction, stability and versatility.

These new Kodak Professional Instant-Dry media produce stunning, photo-realistic displays and exhibition prints of the highest quality at a very competitive price. They are on display this week at the Print 2001 trade show in Chicago.

"Although we designed these new media to work especially well with our new Kodak Professional 5260 inkjet printer, their exceptional color gamut and image stability mean they produce spectacular results with other manufacturers' printers as well," said Kenneth Stack, PhD., Director, Inkjet Printing Systems, Kodak Professional. "Kodak Professional Instant-Dry media are the latest components of a Kodak system specifically designed to deliver industry-leading output performance. That system includes a full line of wide-format printers, inks and media."

Available in both glossy and satin finishes, the new products combine the high image quality afforded by photo-grade media with the ink absorbency of other media types, and provide instant dry on any printing system, including high-speed piezo printers. Compatible with pigment and dye inks, they deliver excellent image quality and gamut - before and after lamination. The new media can be laminated immediately after output, and are also compatible with inexpensive heat-activated laminating materials. They deliver both light and ozone stability that is world class for instant dry-type media.

Kodak Professional Instant-Dry media is yet another example of how Kodak both influences and participates in infoimaging - the $225 billion industry created by the convergence of image science and information technology to create new opportunities. Infoimaging describes images enabled by technology, improving communication and commerce, and creating significant new revenue and market opportunities for businesses.

Kodak Professional Instant-Dry glossy and satin paper is available now directly from Kodak, and from authorized dealers of Kodak Professional wide-format solutions.
