First number is for large/fine files, second number is time for "TV" mode (640x480) images. Times are averages. In large/fine mode, shoots 6 frames this fast, then slows to about 1.6 seconds per shot. Buffer clears in 6 seconds. In TV mode, shoots this fast continuously, and clears the buffer in 2 seconds.

The FinePix E900's performance is quite good overall, though it has a slow startup time of 1.5 second. Shutter lag is good at wide angle and telephoto, and prefocusing the camera (halfway pressing the Shutter button) results in a blazing 0.010 second lag time (Very fast!). Shot to shot cycle times are also good, at about 1.03 seconds for large/fine JPEGs, and it can capture up to six shots this quickly before it has to slow down and wait for the memory card to catch up. Continuous-mode speed is about average though, even at the "high" setting, at 1.65 frames/second, for up to four shots in succession. The flash takes its time recycling, at about eight seconds to recharge after a full-power shot. Connected to a computer, the E900 is quite zippy though, at 4,515 Kbytes per second. Overall, the E900 is a responsive camera, definitely suitable for chasing the kids around at home or at a soccer game.

The FinePix E900 uses two AA-type batteries for power, and comes with a set of rechargeable NiMH batteries and a charger. The table above shows maximum run times based on our power measurements and the rated performance of its battery. With AAs, I always recommend picking up a spare set and keeping it freshly charged and on-hand. And though the E900 displays pretty good battery life for AAs, my recommendation stands. (Though the benefit of the AA type battery is that you can easily pop into a grocery or drug store and pick up a set of alkaline batteries if needed.)

Storage
The FinePix E900 comes with a 16MB xD Picture Card.

I strongly recommend buying at least a 256MB card, preferably a 512MB one, to give yourself extra space for extended outings.
